get your freak on - halloween style edit

In order from left to right: Carrie 1976, Harley Quinn - Suicide Squad, Morticia Addams - The Addams Family, Nancy - The Craft, Dion and Cher - Clueless, Carrie 2013, Corey - Empire Records,
Veronica and J.D. - Heathers, Mia Wallace - Pulp Fiction, Regina George - Mean girls, Margot Tenenbaum - The Royal Tenenbaums, Rachel - Friends.

From chic and sexy to whimsical and freaky, Halloween is the chance for you to dress up as whatever and whoever you wish to be. I remember back when I was living in America, how big a deal Halloween was as I'd hide behind my mum once kids would ring on our doorbell at night in hopes for any candy that we had left stashed in a cupboard that we probably hadn't opened in while. Moving here to Australia changed that. It sorta died down, and I'd hardly see anyone dress up and walk around the neighbourhood at night. Watching whatever scary movies that are scheduled on TV has now sorta become my thing, my own way of celebrating this weird yet  exciting 'holiday'. But I've always wanted to dress up, I've always been into looking at what people would be wearing on the night, from celebrities to casually stalking the Halloween hashtag on Instagram. I think it comes from my love for fashion as well as my fascination with wardrobe and costumes choices in films.

So when it comes to Halloween, from Netflix's latest releases, classic movie royalty or fresh off the runway, the idea's for outfits are infinite. A simple black dress with sheer layers and dark glittery pieces, a simple black on black ensemble with perhaps a hint of leather, lace garments with dark purples and blacks (freaky-chic indeed), fur coats (for the easiest and most perfect Margot Tenenbaum look (but make sure to have a movie marathon with The Royal Tenenbaums before you get all dressed up, just to get you into character!)) and even the simplest white gowns can create the perfect Halloween look (a Carrie look is always priceless). Whether you want to go for a classic Cher and Dion look from Clueless, recreate Wednesday Addams, a spooky Nancy from The Craft or even try pulling off a Rachel from Friends look, anything is possible.

If you're like me and you're probably going to end up stuck at home instead of being out about in an extravagant outfit of your choice and you'd rather just stay in bed or on the couch and have a lil' marathon, here are some of my top go-to Halloween flicks to keep you company.

1. The Ring                                          5. Coraline
2. Donnie Darko                                 6. Carrie 1976 or 2013 (both are great tbh)
3. The Blair Witch Project                   7. The Addams Family (duh?)
4. Corpse Bride                                   8. The Craft

..... or maybe binge watch some stranger things or supernatural on Netflix
