Style Spotlight #3 - Zendaya

Zendaya Coleman is a freaking legend. She's only 20 and she's already on her way to becoming one of the greatest style icons of all time, and on top of that, she's got her own fashion line. While doing Disney on the side and starring in a mega franchise movie, Zendaya continues to keep up the effortless and bold look on a daily basis. She just does fashion so well, and her respect for fashion is obvious and shines through her outfits and its awesome.

Let the pictures do all the talking...

See what we mean by freaking legend?

Style Spotlight - Carolyn Bessette Kennedy

The first time I ever saw her was on tv. I was sitting on the couch surfing channels when I stop at a documentary all about JFK Jr.  And there she was. One of the most influential 'it girls' with her long blonde hair and blue eyes, of the 90's. She was married to one of the most handsome men alive (the headline featuring the fact that the worlds most eligible bachelor had been taken had every girl sighing in sadness). She was Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, and her modern and modest style forever remains a legacy. Some called her a reluctant muse, the private princess, purely based on her shy behaviour and quiet life, but with paparazzi bombarding her and John, pictures of her and her outfits started a thousand trends - every woman wanted to be HER.

The secret wedding - the slip dress - the simplicity. Oh, how the world went wild.

Ok, now have a look at these shoes, and that dress. So modern, so chic.

It was obvious that her street style was daring at times - white pants, white sneakers, an oversized jacket - yet delicate - flowing dresses,
white tops, and heels, accompanied by her luscious blond locks - all accentuating her refreshing, unconventional beauty.

So, she'll forever remain an eternal style icon from her early days as a publicist for Calvin Klein, to her rise of fame following her relationship and marriage to JFK Jr, Carolyn set the movement and legacy and all that we love and admire about '90s fashion, much like her mother-in-law Jackie O, the ultimate example of classic New York style.

get your freak on - halloween style edit

In order from left to right: Carrie 1976, Harley Quinn - Suicide Squad, Morticia Addams - The Addams Family, Nancy - The Craft, Dion and Cher - Clueless, Carrie 2013, Corey - Empire Records,
Veronica and J.D. - Heathers, Mia Wallace - Pulp Fiction, Regina George - Mean girls, Margot Tenenbaum - The Royal Tenenbaums, Rachel - Friends.

From chic and sexy to whimsical and freaky, Halloween is the chance for you to dress up as whatever and whoever you wish to be. I remember back when I was living in America, how big a deal Halloween was as I'd hide behind my mum once kids would ring on our doorbell at night in hopes for any candy that we had left stashed in a cupboard that we probably hadn't opened in while. Moving here to Australia changed that. It sorta died down, and I'd hardly see anyone dress up and walk around the neighbourhood at night. Watching whatever scary movies that are scheduled on TV has now sorta become my thing, my own way of celebrating this weird yet  exciting 'holiday'. But I've always wanted to dress up, I've always been into looking at what people would be wearing on the night, from celebrities to casually stalking the Halloween hashtag on Instagram. I think it comes from my love for fashion as well as my fascination with wardrobe and costumes choices in films.

So when it comes to Halloween, from Netflix's latest releases, classic movie royalty or fresh off the runway, the idea's for outfits are infinite. A simple black dress with sheer layers and dark glittery pieces, a simple black on black ensemble with perhaps a hint of leather, lace garments with dark purples and blacks (freaky-chic indeed), fur coats (for the easiest and most perfect Margot Tenenbaum look (but make sure to have a movie marathon with The Royal Tenenbaums before you get all dressed up, just to get you into character!)) and even the simplest white gowns can create the perfect Halloween look (a Carrie look is always priceless). Whether you want to go for a classic Cher and Dion look from Clueless, recreate Wednesday Addams, a spooky Nancy from The Craft or even try pulling off a Rachel from Friends look, anything is possible.

If you're like me and you're probably going to end up stuck at home instead of being out about in an extravagant outfit of your choice and you'd rather just stay in bed or on the couch and have a lil' marathon, here are some of my top go-to Halloween flicks to keep you company.

1. The Ring                                          5. Coraline
2. Donnie Darko                                 6. Carrie 1976 or 2013 (both are great tbh)
3. The Blair Witch Project                   7. The Addams Family (duh?)
4. Corpse Bride                                   8. The Craft

..... or maybe binge watch some stranger things or supernatural on Netflix

Happy Halloween babes, stay spooky.

style spotlight - Rihanna

This issue - Rihanna

Rihanna. A genius. A fashion icon. A queen. A blessing to the music and fashion industry. The pop star's choices and taste in fashion are a visual spectacle, featuring pieces fresh-off-the-runway, along with a mix of vintage and modern items, and, naturally, pieces she's designed herself. She's worked with countless brands, which were lucky enough to work with her, as she truly has outstanding taste, her collaborations including Dior, Manolo Blahnik and her recent line of athleisure for FENTY x Puma. Rihanna has truly outdone herself when it comes to her latest outfits whether it be what she's wearing on stage, on the streets of New York and even during red carpet events, because when it comes to fashion, Rihanna obviously knows her sh!*@ !!! She's always stood out the most to us when it comes to who's who and who's doing what in the world of fashion today.

Rihanna has continued to inspire the world with her sartorial choices, and she’s been dressed by every designer name under the sun - from Chanel to Gucci and Gaultier - and in every style from girly with puffy pink dresses, to sleek, chic modern looks. Yet, she always seems to pull it all off effortlessly, and that in itself has allowed her to become what she is recognised as today, and that is, a modern style icon.

Her career brings a sparkling aura of inspiration to those who strive to work in the industry. Being who she is she plays by her own rules – including when it comes to fashion. A dress featuring about 216,000 Swarovski diamonds? Sure! How about a sheer lime green fringe jumpsuit? Yep, only she'll wear it! The fashion icon can surely pull any outfit off (a skill in which many struggle to perfect), and her outrageous, controversial pieces that she's constantly seen in, just keep coming and coming! There are no limits when it comes to Rihanna and her wardrobe, which we can only imagine to be a heavenly combination of luxury and leisure, as she too can pull of sweatpants and a t-shirt.

So, Rihanna, we applaud you, because only you are capable of making anything and everything look simply, gorgeous and to die for.
